* Keep Your Word 1.3 new Flash Cards mode supports the display of the images that you attached to each word. No images? No problem, it defaults to only text.

So, now, you can declare a Smart Group that contains all the words not marked as memorized, that belong to a given Category, that have appeared at least twice in the Flash Cards mode, and that have not been in any of the Exercise Modes in the last two weeks.

Are you studying a new language? Your class notebook is an endless list of words that you have to learn? You remember that your teacher told you how to say a lot of useful things but, can you find them in your notebok?

Bitnotic Releases Chill 1.0

December 3rd, 2008

Portland, Oregon – Bitnotic is pleased to announce the release of Bitnotic chill 1.0 for Mac OS X. Chill is easy-to-use software that creates 100% computer-generated, user-adjustable ambient music. Though purely machine made, Chill’s music is both relaxing and listenable.

Chill plays endless songs or, in chill Radio mode, an uninterrupted stream of unique tracks. Once played, songs can be saved in a variety of audio formats. Albums can be exported straight into iTunes to download to iPod or burn to CD. Each song is unique and royalty free, and can be used in any public space or project without licensing fees.

Anytime soothing music is required, Bitnotic chill can be put to work:
* Around the house for a relaxed atmosphere
* On-the-go for commute-time iPod nirvana
* As background music for presentations, slideshows, and digital videos
* In-store music for shops, cafes, yoga studios, etc.
* For music studio projects and live performances

Nick Vardalos, owner of Cafe Bido in Sydney, Australia uses chill as a royalty-free music alternative for his cafe and in music projects. He says, “It’s simple enough that you can turn it on and let it go do its thing, but for the electro-geek in me it goes deeper. I can export the songs it creates as MIDI files into pro production software and build on them, replace instruments, edit tracks, collaborate with friends.”

Created with musicians, as well as listeners, in mind, Bitnotic chill has a variety of features that allow songs to be used in the studio or live. Individual tracks can be saved in MIDI, WAV, and AIFF formats. Count-in, song key and tempo info, and MIDI output allow performers to collaborate with chill in real-time.

Scott Burgess, Bitnotic’s principal, says, “Chill’s music is influenced by Eno, Debussy, and musique concrète, with some New Age thrown in. The songs can be mellow or they can be evocative, but they are always music.”

iRingPro Launches Global Search for "The Best Free Ringtone on Earth"

December 3rd, 2008

San Francisco, CA – iRingPro, makers of sophisticated iPhone ringtones for professionals and advanced mobile users, has issued today an open call for submissions for “The Best Free Ringtone On Earth”. The company intends to curate a living list of the very best, legal, free ringtones in the world. Once the list has reached critical mass, iRingPro will open public voting and the best of the best will be officially crowned “The Best Free Ringtone On Earth”.

“At iRingPro, we have built a business on providing sophisticated ringtones to professional mobile users who demand serious, technically advanced alternatives, and to regular users just looking for more elegant, peaceful ringtones,” says iRingPro founder Joel Hladecek. “But we also recognize that there are a lot of people out there with the talent and tools to create terrific sounds that may yet appeal to our clientele. We wanted to create a way for our customers and visitors to benefit from that, so long as the creator of the sounds indeed offers them for free.”

Often when people think of free ringtones, they imagine repurposed popular songs, illegally posted on any number of convert-it-yourself sites of little ethical consideration. But iRingPro firmly discourages such submissions recognizing that more often than not, such postings infringe on copyright owners.

The company further contends that music ringtones, having not been created for the purpose, result in ultimately inferior ringtones, appealing more to children, than professionals and high-tech users. As such the site specifically asks that users submit original and unique sounds that “a self-respecting professional might use.”

iRingPro staff review each submission to verify that the sound may be legally used for free before passing the link on to users. They further ask copyright owners to alert them to any misconduct.

iRingPro ringtones are available for purchase and download. All 21 ringtones come bundled as a set for the single price of $9.95 (USD). Formatted for Apple iPhone and other phones that allow custom MP3 files to be loaded from a PC and assigned as a ringer by the user.
