Online Pro Video Tool Suite MediaSilo Releases Version 2.0 at NAB 2009

April 6th, 2009

Boston, Massachusetts – MediaSilo is announcing a major update to its suite of online video tools. Version 2.0 marks a shift to a plug-in architecture for the pioneer in SAS workflow for high-end video production. The new release, set to debut at NAB 2009 in Las Vegas April 20-23 (booth SL9512), includes integrated plug-ins for production workflow, comprehensive metadata management and upgraded features within MediaSilo’s core collaboration tools and an advanced program interface.

“MediaSilo 2.0 brings many new and exciting changes to our network of video content producers,” said Kai Pradel, CEO. “Our new architecture gives us the flexibility to offer customizable workflows for all tiers of the market, from major Hollywood productions to small post houses.”

New platform plug-in offerings include a turnkey logging and transcription service which brings human-powered transcriptions to any asset stored on MediaSilo at prices as low as $1 per minute of footage. The tool is also available as a self-service feature to allow a distributed workforce to collaborate on production projects. Log notes are searchable through MediaSilo’s powerful metadata engine and a unique thumbnail system generates and retrieves poster frames for each log note.

“It’s all about metadata,” said Dan Green, MediaSilo’s workflow specialist. “The log and transcribe features in MediaSilo not only make simple production easier, they incorporate the information as metadata that’s searchable, maximizing time and value.”

MediaSilo 2.0 also features improvements to MediaSilo’s core collaboration workflow, expanding timeline annotations to include in and out points as well as threaded discussions for more effective communication between stakeholders.

The platform upgrade also means a faster, more efficient processing system for MediaSilo users, dramatically increasing performance. The service operates in a cloud computing environment for processing and storage with file-based and progressive streaming through the most efficient delivery system available.

In addition to its platform upgrade, MediaSilo will announce workflow integrations with major industry device manufacturers made possible through the company’s new modular platform. The announcement follows MediaSilo’s recent integration with Apple’s Final Cut Server for online asset storage, collaboration and metadata authoring, the first such integration with FCS.

“Our platform was born from a video production company,” Pradel said. “We understand the workflow issues faced by producers, directors and editors. MediaSilo’s 2.0 rollout gives us more flexibility to cater the platform to their specific needs at a cost-effective price point.”

MediaSilo is a pioneer in online video collaboration and technology workflow, offering online video review and approval, metadata creation, content management, web broadcast and Final Cut Server integration.

The company offers enterprise solutions for major production companies and organizations through a growing network of integrators, workflow consultants and hardware providers. Additionally, MediaSilo’s online portal boasts tiered usage plans to encompass the needs of a variety of users. The most popular offering is the “Hollywood” package which provides unlimited storage and bandwidth in addition to the standard toolset for just $99 a month. Screenium 1.1 Released – Screen Recording Tool Receives Important Update

April 6th, 2009

Mainz/Germany – Synium Software update their popular screencapturing software Screenium to version 1.1. Following the much antecipated launch of Screenium 1.0 only a few months before, this new version now features many “under-the-hood” improvements to the already powerful capturing engine, one of the reasons for Screenium’s highly acclaimed quality. In fact, the developers redesigned this core functionality to offer even better performance and synchronicity while recording multiple audio and video sources.

Screenium captures live video from your Mac’s screen, combined with multichannel audio and picture-in-picture video and sound from your Mac’s built-in iSight or externally tethered, QuickTime-compatible Webcam. Video tutorials and webcasts are a snap, combining and mixing voice-over from your built-in and any external microphone or audio device, together with system sounds or application audio.

New features in Screenium 1.1 include customizable visualization effects for Mouse actions – an animated mouse pointer to help your audience grasp what you are doing on-screen. The (optional) display of mouse button names has also been added, as well as Activity Indicators giving you immediate, yet unobstrusive feedback if Screenium is still running or even recording. To further improve on frequently-used features, the update also adds optimized export workflows, allowing to quickly create movies for YouTube or the Apple iPhone or iPod touch.

Screenium users appreciate Screenium’s custom captions (“HotText”) to illustrate your screencasts on-the-fly. For the most efficient workflow, Screenium is keyboard-controllable and widely customizable: ideal for high volume video production in a time-critical environment. Screenium supports QuickTime’s encoding technology and lets you re-process movies you already have recorded to adapt them to different output formats.

New Features in Screenium 1.1 over 1.0:
* Much improved audio and video capturing engine
* Improved support for external video sources (Webcams)
* Activity Indicators for “Record”/”Pause” and “Camera Active”
* Configurable, animated mouse effects
* Display of mouse button names
* Built-in, optimized YouTube and iPhone export

* Highly customizable quality and compression settings

Screenium 1.1 integrates smoothly with Mac OS X 10.4 “Tiger” as well as with 10.5 “Leopard” and still supports Mac hardware from older productivity workhorses runing on single or dual G4 processors to the most recent multi-core Intel CPUs.

Supported Languages:

app4mac releases Presto 1.0 for Mac OS X Leopard

April 6th, 2009

San Jose, California – app4mac has released Presto 1.0, a new utility designed for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. With Presto, users can define abbreviations for frequently-used text strings. When an abbreviation is typed, it expands to the full phrase with a cool user interface. Tired of writing the same text over and over again? Anytime you type text into an application, Presto can help you do it faster and more accurately.

Whether it’s your name, your e-mail address, the URL of your blog, your personal address, etc, you probably often find yourself typing the same text again and again. Presto is here to help you save time by ‘typing’ these frequently used items for you. Just choose your list of abbreviations, and Presto will automatically show you related texts as you type.

With Presto, you will be able to quickly insert standard greetings, signatures (including formatted text) or phrases into any application. For example, instead of typing your address in full, you would simply type ‘Addr1′ and Presto would come up with our full address. Once you define an abbreviation, it is available at all times, anywhere text can be typed, no matter what application you are using.

Features:
* Insert greetings, text, and signatures, including formatted text
* Save time by typing short abbreviations to get long phrases
* Organize abbreviations into groups
* Automatic import from RapidoWrite database
* Cool animations build with CoreAnimation Frameworks
* Possibility to attach an abbreviation to a list of applications
* Possibility to disable Presto in a list of applications
* Available in English and French

Pricing and Availability:
The price is 9 Euros only (around $11 USD). Mac OS X 10.5 or higher is required. Presto is the commercial version of RapidoWrite, a freeware that is now discontinued.
