iPhoto Library Manager 3.5 adds Faces and Places support for iPhoto ’09

May 7th, 2009

San Jose, California – iPhoto Library Manager is a tool for iPhoto users to easily divide their photo collection among multiple iPhoto libraries. Instead of being required to keep all their photos in a single library, users can keep libraries anywhere they choose, including on an external or networked drive.

In addition to creating and switching between libraries, iPhoto Library Manager allows users to copy albums of photos from one library to another while preserving their keywords, ratings, and other photo metadata, or to merge multiple libraries together into one. Library shortcuts provide an easy way to open a library quickly, and iPhoto Library Manager can be used to rebuild or extract photos from a corrupted library.

Along with various bug fixes and minor improvements, new in version 3.5 is the ability to retain faces of people you’ve identified using the new face recognition features of iPhoto ’09 when copying photos from one library to another. Additionally, if you’ve assigned custom place information to your photos, iPhoto Library Manager will also preserve that data during the transfer.

A single user license for iPhoto Library Manager can be purchased for $19.95 (USD) and provides access to all the features of the program. Basic library switching is compatible with all versions of iPhoto, and all photo copying features require iPhoto 4.0.3 or later. iPhoto Library Manager is a universal binary and requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later.

220 Software releases NASCAR Ultimate 1.0 for the iPhone/iPod Touch

May 7th, 2009

Dunnville, ON, Canada – 220 Software, an independent iPhone developer, today has announced the release of it’s flagship Nascar product, NASCAR Ultimate. NASCAR Ultimate features the latest schedules, standings, and race results from all three Nascar series, and also plugs into the vibrant Nascar fan community via context sensitive links to YouTube video and podcasts. “Nascar fans have had little to cheer about up until this point” says 220 Software owner, Fred Vandervelde. “We’re attempting to change that.”

220 Software has over a decade of software development experience, and has recently begun to focus on the iPhone platform. The company’s first offering, “Baseball Fan” climbed to the #2 spot in the US App Store during it’s first week after release. “We’re all about providing focused, rich experiences for sports fans” says Vandervelde. “Nascar, as one of the fastest growing sports on earth, has been horribly under represented on the iPhone platform. We have every intention of delivering a ‘killer app’ for Nascar fans on this platform. Our release roadmap is very ambitious.”

NASCAR Ultimate includes all the news, statistics, and realtime information that fans of the sport are looking for, but it’s uniqueness lies in it’s ties to the fan community. For each race, or each driver, users will be able to see previews, reviews, and video commentary created by other fans like themselves. “The fan experience is a social experience” says Vandervelde. “By connecting fans to each other, we can enhance each person’s enjoyment of their chosen sport”.

Pricing and Availability:
NASCAR Ultimate is available on the iTunes App Store for $3.99 (USD).
