AnguriaLab LLC releases Otakulous 1.0 for iPhone and iPod touch

September 30th, 2009

Bologna, Italy – AnguriaLab LLC is happy to announce that Apple has approved its latest application, Otakulous, into the iTunes App Store. Otakulous manages a library of sexy manga images of great quality. New images are added to the library daily, and once downloaded they can be browsed offline.

Images are displayed in full-screen mode and have a resolution of 320×480 pixels. They can be saved to the device’s photo library so that they can be used as the device’s wallpaper. Images you like most can also be bookmarked so that you’ll quickly find them again later. All images have been accurately chosen to match high quality standards and have been regularly licensed from the respective artists. Every image is associated to its artist’s email and homepage so that you can also contact the artist if you wish.

Information For Artists:
If you’re an artist and love the draw manga-style images, you should join the project and submit your works to be included in our ever growing library. First of all, we pay for images, according to their quality and quantity. But you should contribute for the same reasons why you publish your works all over the web, on popular and less popular artists’ website: to showcase your works to a large and focused audience, and to find users that after seeing your works may commission more drawings or pay for a high-resolution version of your images. The notable difference, in comparison with many websites, is that 100% of our users will be manga fans!

For any drawing it shows, the application will let the user see the artist’s (nick)name, email and homepage, so that’s easy for users to contact you directly. You retain copyright of your works, and we’ll be very glad to promote your name. Furthermore, if you don’t have time to work on new drawings, no problem…you can just share/publish the drawings you’ve already created, so that the effort will be near to zero, but you’ll still get visibility and promotion. So, why not?

Drawing requirements are pretty simple
* You must, of course, be the author
* Manga-style drawings
* The subject must be sexy girl(s)
* Having your own, invented, character is perfect
* No fan-art, only original characters
* Only softcore, no hardcore!
* No nudity, just sexy (lingerie, bikini, underwear)
* Colored drawings (color preferably applied digitally)
* 320×480 or 480×320 size
* JPEG or PNG files preferred
* Your new and old works are fine

System Requirements:
* iPhone or iPod Touch 3.0 or later

Pricing and Availability:
Otakulous 1.0 for iPhone is only $1.99 (USD) and available exclusively through Apple’s App Store. This includes all updates.

Kenaxis Democratizes Laptop Performance with the Release of Kenaxis 3.1

September 30th, 2009

Roberts Creek, BC – Kenaxis Creative today announced the release of the latest update for Kenaxis, the flagship in their line of real-time audio performance software. The update, Kenaxis 3.1 adds OSC (Open Sound Control) compatibility and a FFT Phase Vocoder, allowing Kenaxis users greater flexibility in both interactivity and sonic output.

OSC enables Kenaxis to communicate with a variety of hardware and software interfaces including consumer devices as familiar as the iPod touch, the iPhone and Wii remotes. Combining OSC with the powerful audio-design tools of Kenaxis opens a whole new range of possibilities for musicians and artists working in live audio performance.

In addition, while Kenaxis 3.1 is loaded with its trademark Granular Synthesis tools, the new FFT Phase Vocoder offers an alternative technique for sonic time stretching and freezing. The Phase Vocoder will appeal to musicians who desire more organic, analog-sounding textures in their performances and compositions.

The innovations bring Kenaxis one-step closer to achieving the democratic vision of designer, Stefan Smulovitz who conceives the software to allow for the utmost freedom in musical expression. “Kenaxis is not an imitation of corporate sequencer-based products,” he comments, “It is designed for musicians, like myself, who want an instrument to play, rather than a grid that defines what and how we can play.” Equally useful for performing and composing, Kenaxis is currently used by musicians worldwide for practices as diverse as electroacoustic works, noise, ambient, glitch, soundscapes, live looping, film scores, theatre and DJing.

Key Features:
* Intuitive Performance Interface: 6 loop players, mixer and master mixer. Clear, compact display of all parameters allows the musician to monitor and manipulate every aspect of the performance
* Powerful Tools: pitch modulation, delay, granular synthesis, convolution, analog synthesis, 12 band parametric EQs, automated envelopes and filters, random file players and VST support – allows for sonic possibilities not possible with hardware components, at a fraction of the cost
* Adjustable Crossfades and Insert Silence features: allows for maximum real-time loop manipulation – eliminate clicks, create drones or create sparse textures
* Multiple Audio Sources: Drag and drop sound files, synthesize sounds or capture live sound on the fly
* OSC and MIDI compatible: Faster and with higher resolution than MIDI, OSC (Open Sound Control) allows the musician to ‘play’ Kenaxis with the iPod, iPod Touch, Wii controller, Lemur and other OSC devices and software
* FFT Phase Vocoder: An organic and more analog-sounding time-stretching alternative. Pinpoint sounds in the spectrum analysis tool to stretch, freeze and manipulate

iAlcohol 1.0 released for iPhone – Unique BAC calculator for drivers

September 30th, 2009

Vitebsk, Belarus – In all countries driving while drunk is illegal. Your driving license will be confiscated if the level of alcohol in your blood tests exceeds the permitted level for driving. Is there an efficient way to avoid this kind of problem with legislation? We have the solution. Software for smartphone Apple iPhone, which determines the level of alcohol in a person’s blood and calculates the required interruption in driving.

iAlcohol is a unique development, whose developers excelled at using the previous experience of work with similar programs. For the first time they managed to accumulate and evaluate the majority of all the conclusive parameters, which had not been taken into account when determining the speed of alcohol elimination from a person’s body. Alcohol concentration in a person’s blood is affected not just by the amount of the consumed alcohol, but also by many other factors, such as the kind of drink a person consumes, their height, weight, gender, their activity after consuming alcohol, different kinds of food, consumed together with alcohol.

The calculation formula for the program takes into account the maximum number of factors that affect the result, thus providing 90% accuracy. The program is intuitively easy to use. You may plan to drink alcohol and know the exact time when you plan to start driving. The program will help you choose a suitable drink and the amount you are allowed to consume within this interval of time.

For your convenience, the list of the most existing drinks and cocktails is divided into groups and, apart from well-known drinks, it contains over 230 names of widespread alcohol cocktails, showing the required interruption in driving for each one. After you select a cocktail you will be able to find out the time period within which you are not allowed to drive.

It is also possible to calculate alcohol concentration in situations when different types of drinks are consumed simultaneously. A timer will inform you about the time when you can start driving. It will still count time if you exit the program. In case you drank more alcohol or changed your activity after turning the timer on, the program will increase the period, during which you are not allowed to drive, and correct the results according to new data, without cancelling the previously programmed timer.

Major functions:
* Permitted alcohol concentration for 47 countries.
* Multilingual interface (Russian, English, German, French, Italian).
* Timer, counting down the safe interruption in driving. It functions even if you exit the program.
* History of measurements (when, how much and what kind of alcohol was consumed; what kind of food was eaten, what kind of activities the person was performing, interruption in driving, maximum alcohol concentration in the person’s blood.)
* Influence of food on alcohol concentration (different types of food: fatty food, vegetables, fruit, juices).
* Influence of height, weight, gender, kind of activity on alcohol concentration and speed of alcohol elimination.
* Choice of majority of existing drinks and cocktails (over 230); their division into groups according to types of drinks.
* Possibility to calculate alcohol concentration, in case different kinds of drinks or cocktails have been mixed.
* Timetable for the process of alcohol elimination from blood.
* Possibility to register several user profiles and save the history of measurements for each user separately.
* If more alcohol is drunk after the timer is on – there is a possibility to include the drink into the program without cancelling the previously entered data.
* Selection of a drink and its size, when a user enters the period of time he is not planning to drive.
* Possibility to select a different kind of activity after the timer is on. (for instance, a user was awake at the beginning of the counting, but then decided to drink more alcohol and sleep – the speed of alcohol excretion will change).
* Possibility to simultaneously calculate alcohol concentration in blood and interruption in driving for several users.
* Display of current alcohol concentration in a person’s blood in real-time mode; display of time left until the person is allowed to drive, time left until complete elimination of alcohol from a person’s blood.

iAlcohol has preprogrammed settings of permitted alcohol concentration for 47 different countries. The history of measurements, data about maximum alcohol concentration in a person’s blood, length of interruptions in driving and other data is saved by the program. The program allows registering several user profiles, remembering each user’s name, weight, gender and history of measurements for each user separately.

System Requirements:
* iPhone or iPod Touch 3.0 or later

Pricing and Availability:
iAlcohol 1.0 is $1.99 (USD) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store.

We’ve included some HDR tutorials to help you get started with the amazing world of HDR photography.

HDR Photography is a relatively new type of photography. It involves capturing more than one photo at different exposures, then using software to combine these exposures into a HIgh Dynamic Range Image. Tone mapping is then required to compress the tones of the photo into a range that the computer display can display. The reason for this is simple, the High Dynamic Range Image contains far more detail in the highlights and shadows and these can then be used to create an image closer to what the human eye can see or to create punchy dramatic images.

System Requirements:
HDRtist requires a Power Macintosh G5 or Intel based Macintosh computer, running Mac OS X v 10.4 or later. It is recommended to have at least 1 GB of RAM.

Pricing and Availability:
HDRtist is available today as freeware. The Funtastic Photos promotion is available from today, throughout the month of October 2009. 20% off reduces the price of a single user license even further from $34.99 (USD) down to $27.99.

Talk Radio is available for both the iPhone and Android platforms. The application will make the audio stream from Salt Lake City Radio Station KSL 102.7 easily accessible to their customers.

Designed to take advantage of smartphone location aware technology and network capabilities, Talk Radio learns from users who report coverage, corrections, or changes and transmits that information to all other users with the application automatically.

Currently Talk Radio works well within the United States but, as a “learning application”, collects information from our listeners who report in. International entries in our database are growing quickly.

MEI Releases InPorter Add-on for K4 Publishing System

September 29th, 2009

Jenkintown, PA – Managing Editor Inc. (MEI), an Adobe premier development partner and a leading provider of software solutions for the publishing industry, today announced the release of InPorter(R), a new add-on utility developed by MEI for the vjoon K4 Publishing System. InPorter automatically ingests several different types of external content and their metadata into the K4 workflow.

InPorter is a server-side tool that streamlines the process of moving content into K4, the leading editorial solution integrating Adobe(R) InDesign(R) and Adobe InCopy(R), for use in production. It handles any kind of object that can be managed in the K4 system, including InCopy documents, InDesign layouts, pictures, ads, multimedia and more.

Using InPorter’s Web interface, an administrator can configure workflows for different types of content to be dropped in InPorter’s watched folders. When content arrives – from a digital asset management system, wire service, database, syndication partner, Web site or another K4 publication, for example – InPorter checks it into K4, applying the defined metadata for that type of content. The files immediately show up on the to-do list of the users to whom they’ve been assigned and can be incorporated into a publication workflow.

InPorter also has specific XML-processing capabilities for ingesting XML content, automatically turning it into a new InCopy article and checking it into the K4 workflow with its metadata. Additionally, InPorter can tap into the scripting and automation features built into InCopy and Adobe InDesign Server to perform various functions to articles and layouts being imported into a K4 publication.

Designed to help publishers unify cross-media environments such as print-plus-online, InPorter automates tasks that previously required time-consuming manual intervention.

“InPorter opens up a world of possibilities for K4 users by simplifying the process of getting content into the system from a multitude of sources,” said Linda Bruce, vice president of enterprise sales at MEI. “It’s a great multipurpose tool that provides the flexibility to publish to and from multiple channels with minimal impact to production.”

Availability:
InPorter 1.1 is available now. It is compatible with K4 version 5.9 and Adobe Creative Suite 3 and 4. For more details, contact an MEI sales representative at 215-886-5662 or an authorized MEI distributor. Additional information can be found on Managing Editor Inc.’s Web site.

KavaServices 4.1 adds file management tools to the Services menu

September 29th, 2009

Washington, DC – KavaSoft today released KavaServices 4.1, a collection of useful commands that transforms the Services menu in Mac OS X Snow Leopard. KavaServices can translate, search the web, encode for HTML, calculate, convert units, sort, change case, execute commands, and much more. KavaServices 4.1 adds file management tools that help simplify your workflow in the Finder.

KavaServices 4.1 can now move and copy files to your favorite folders. For example, you can click on an application in the Finder and choose “Copy to Applications” to install it. Click on a movie in your Downloads folder and choose “Move to Movies” to put it where it belongs. KavaServices comes with handy pre-defined destinations so you can easily move and copy files to your Desktop, Documents, Downloads, and other folders in your home folder. You can also customize your workflow by adding your own folder destinations.

Snow Leopard’s redesigned Services menu is context-sensitive and fully customizable. You can choose exactly which commands you’d like to include in System Preferences, keeping the menu tidy and clutter-free. Your favorite KavaServices features are now right in the Services menu, rather than buried in submenus.

Services replace the selected text in place, without the need to switch to a different program or copy and paste. They’re also available from the contextual menu, whenever you need them. KavaServices translates text from one language to another, and is fluent in English, French, German, Japanese, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, Dutch, Greek, Korean, Portuguese, and Russian.

KavaServices can search a variety of websites. You can pull up a Wikipedia article, search Google or Yahoo, buy things on Amazon or eBay, locate a place on a map, connect on Facebook or MySpace, or watch a video on YouTube. The Visit Website command goes to the main website for whatever you’ve selected, just like magic.

KavaServices helps webmasters prepare content for the web by encoding special characters into HTML entities. It can convert accented letters, characters in other alphabets and special punctuation marks for display on the web. It can also encode URL links and convert accented text to plain ASCII.

KavaServices can calculate mathematical expressions, including basic arithmetic, trigonometry, arithmetic with scientific units, base conversions, and more. It can also convert currencies, area, energy, power, pressure, speed, temperature, time, volume and weight.

Text processing commands let you convert text to lowercase, uppercase or title case. You can sort lines alphabetically, with the option to remove duplicates, and remove blank lines. KavaServices also offers a gateway to the Terminal in any application. Select a command, hit a keystroke, and the command will be replaced by its result as if you had typed it in the Terminal.

System Requirements:
KavaServices 4.1 is a 64-bit universal application, and is designed specifically for Snow Leopard. KavaServices 3.2.2 remains available for users of Tiger and Leopard.

Pricing and Availability:
KavaServices costs $25 (USD), and can be purchased using PayPal or Kagi. You can try all of the features for free for seven days.

Developers Shift Business Model to Ride iPhone App Wave

September 29th, 2009

Royal Palm Beach, Florida – iPhoneAppQuotes, the leading network that connects iPhone App Developers and iPhone development companies today released a national survey of application developers and the results show a dramatic increase in mobile application development.

Survey Results
* 42% of developers have 2 – 5 employees.
* 39% average growth was experienced by most developers from adding mobile application development to their business models.
* From respondents that recently added app development as a service, 34% of their entire business is now comprised of iPhone app development.
* 60% of respondents were doing custom application development before they started working on iPhone applications.
* 71% of respondents generate most of their sales leads through referrals.

“It should come as no surprise that Apple’s App Store is big business and generates an estimated $1 billion a year in total revenue,” Gregg Weiss, Founder of iPhoneAppQuotes said. “With the iPhone app market growing daily, developers have noticed the trend and are shifting focus to the mobile app market.”

Sacconaghi estimates the App Store currently brings in $60 million to $110 million in quarterly revenue for Apple. Those figures represent the money Apple gets from its 30% cut of every app sold. Conversely, iPhone application developers generate between $140 million and $250 million a quarter through their 70% cut of App Store sales.

“The key thing to take away from these statistics is that developing an iPhone app can create a very lucrative business for not only businesses and software developers, but also for everyday entrepreneurs that have a fantastic concept,” Weiss adds.
