Founded in 2002 as Pocket Watch Software by Charles W. Teel, our company launched what has continued to be our lead product, ActivePrint. Charles developed the idea of ActivePrint as a college student after getting his first Pocket PC. In class he would write pages and pages of notes on his Pocket PC but would have to manually copy those files to his desktop computer and then print them one at a time. Frustrated, he looked for a software alternative to make this process simpler. But the closest thing he could find would require another $400 of hardware and software, and even then it wouldn’t fully automate the process. So Charles set out to develop ActivePrint, the first and only mobile printing application that gives users the ability to print right out of the box at an affordable price (even for college students). Pocket Watch Software continued to develop the ActivePrint technology to make it more effective. After reorganizing Pocket Watch Software to Pocket Watch LLC, we continue the legacy of making technology work for our customers.

BandMate 2.0 points the spotlight on the concerts you’ll want to catch

January 25th, 2010

Austin, Texas – WellAlright today is proud to announce BandMate 2.0, an update to their personalized concert calendar for the iPhone and iPod touch. BandMate makes it easy to find the live music events that matter most to an individual. By analyzing the music already on the user’s iPod, BandMate highlights upcoming concerts for both the bands a user already listens to along with other artists that the user would most likely be interested in.

With this release, music fans can now browse not only recommended events but also the complete event listings for a selected city. They can also view events by venue or choose to include all the shows at their favorite venues in their list of recommended events. The ‘My Artists’ list has also been enhanced, so now users can view pictures, listen to music, watch videos, and more for any of the bands on their iPod, even if the band doesn’t have any upcoming events.

Other new features include:
* Searching for events by artist or venue name
* Quick calendar scrolling by dragging the rightmost part of the events list.
* Automatic scan for new music added to the device.

About BandMate:
With so many new bands playing on any given night, it’s difficult for concertgoers to pick out the show they’d like to see most, and often they find out too late about great shows they missed. BandMate evolved around the idea of connecting fans with the shows they’ll love.

Beyond simply alerting music fans to live shows by their favorite bands, BandMate analyzes the music they already listen to and discovers new bands that they would want to check out. It searches through event listings in the city of the user’s choice to create a personalized calendar of only the shows that they want to see. Each event even includes a probability score of how strong the recommendation is. BandMate also provides all the tools music fans need to find out more about artists, including links to schedules, videos, bios, music, along with easy ways to share any info with their friends via e-mail, Twitter, and Facebook.

Feature Highlights:
* Watch the band’s videos
* Listen to the artist’s music in iTunes
* View multiple pictures of each artist
* Read the band’s biography
* Browse the artist’s web site
* Launch the band’s Last.fm radio station
* Explore the other artists in the line-up
* Add artists not already on your iPod
* Import artists from iTunes playlists
* Share the event info via e-mail, Twitter, and Facebook
* Keep track of favorite events
* Keep tabs on their favorite venues
* Export favorites to a calendar
* Explore events in different cities

“I’m lucky enough to live in Austin, a fantastic city known for live music,” says Rimas Remeza, owner and CTO of WellAlright. “So many incredible bands play here every night. And if you look hard enough, there’s always some artist you’ll want to check out.” The tough part is, with so many shows, simply poring over the local event listings might help you find a couple bands you know, but it does little to help you find new bands that you may like. We definitely needed a better way for people to connect with new artists that they’d enjoy,” continues Remeza. “Being both a music fan and a geek, and seeing the possibility of combining both loves to do something that might help people enjoy their live music scene a bit more, I developed BandMate. Hopefully, it will lead to more folks discovering new music and more new fans out there supporting bands.”

Device Requirements:
* iPhone or iPod touch 3.0 or later

Pricing and Availability:
BandMate 2.0 is only $1.99 (USD) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Music category. Promo Codes are available upon request.

The Hare and the Tortoise – A great story for children on iPhone/iTouch

January 25th, 2010

Farnham, United Kingdom – Apps Mobilis today is proud to introduce “The Hare and the Tortoise” which is a great story for young children and their new animated audiobook for iPhone and iPod Touch. Designed specifically to leverage the iPhone’s unique abilities and peerless interface, The Hare and the Tortoise is a Moving Audio(TM) book based on the classic fable by Aesop. This is the second in a series of the company’s “Moving Audio(TM)” range of audiobooks.

This is a specially commissioned re-telling of the classic fable by Aesop and is about a race between a hare and a tortoise. The race takes place in Green Tree forest and follows the trials and tribulations of Henry Hare and Thomas Tortoise.

Whether keeping the little ones occupied on journeys, or helping them learn to read, The Hare and the Tortoise features a compelling narrated story, with beautifully illustrated images. Illustrations actually move around and zoom in and out of the screen while they listen to the narration, and offers a unique way to keep young children engaged. Additionally, the application contains the full book, so once it is downloaded there is no need for an internet connection.

The story scrolls across the bottom of the screen with the current word highlighted as it is read, and the story can be paused and resumed at any time. The “Read to me” lets a child enjoy enjoy this wonderful story. Children will enjoy listening to the different voices in the specially recorded narration. The “I’ll read” mode lets a child read at their own pace. As they read the story for themselves, they just touch the word as they read it; the illustrations will change with each chapter but they will not be fully animated so that there is no visual distraction while they read.

Feature Highlights:
* Compelling, animated illustrations and story line
* Serves to help enhance reading skills for young children, 3 thru 8
* Two Modes for learning: “Read to me” and “I’ll read”
* Does not require an internet connection

“Young children are under-represented with apps in the app store,” said Adrian Nelson, founder of Apps Mobilis. “Based on my experience with my own children, I know how important it is to stimulate a child to learn to read – which must be just about the most important life skill a parent can teach their child. In order to help children learn to read and associate word sounds with letters, I felt it important to highlight the word as they were being read in the narration and then give the child the option of trying to read it at their own pace as well without narration.”

System Requirements:
* iPhone or iPod Touch 2.2.1 or later
* 15.4 Mb

Pricing and Availability:
The Hare and the Tortoise 1.0 by Adrian Nelson is only $1.99 (USD) and available worldwide, exclusively through the App Store under the Books category.

It features a comfortable and simple user interface, allowing users to see the most important items at-a-glance. AutoPark also helps users find their parked car using the iPhone’s built-in GPS. No more wandering around when it’s time to leave. Just park the car and set a marker on the map with a single tap.

The app can also remind users what level they parked in multi-story lots, as well as find nearby services, such as gas stations, public restrooms, and banks. And with AutoPark’s built-in One-Button Email feature, users can share parking data with others via richly formatted e-mail. They can also jot down a note or attach a picture. Great for writing a reminder or remembering what the rental car looks like.

One of AutoPark’s unique features is live access to local services. With one tap users are shown gas stations, public restrooms, or banks on a map near their current location. Future free updates will include a range of other nearby services that will be useful to drivers before they get back on the road.

Feature Highlights:
* Comfortable and simple User Interface
* Keep Track of Time Left on the Meter
* Find The Parked Car
* Stop Getting Lost in Parking Lots
* Get Background Alarms via Push Notification
* Find Nearby Services
* Save Text and Photo Attachments
* Works on Meters or Prepaid Machines
* One-Button Email

“My primary goal in creating AutoPark was to make a complete solution to everyday parking problems,” said Ramin Firoozye, founder of Berkeley based Frolicware. “I came up with the concept several years ago but it took until iPhone OS 3.0 before all the necessary technologies fell into place. I was especially gratified by early user reviews that said they “could not envision going to the City without this app any longer” and that it “paid for itself in one day” That tells me it’s hitting its intended mark.”

Device Requirements:
* iPhone or 2nd Generation iPod touch running 3.0 or later
* 1.7 MB

Pricing and Availability:
AutoPark 1.0 is only $4.99 (USD) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Navigation category. Frolicware’s AutoPark and FloatPen will be shown at the Mobile Developer Pavilion at MacWorld Expo 2010 in San Francisco, February 9-13. Review copies are available upon request.

January 25th, 2010

Los Angeles, CA – The Los Angeles Final Cut Pro User Group (lafcpug) will have its first meeting of 2010 on Wednesday January 27, 2010 beginning at 6:45PM at the Gallery Theater in Hollywood California. It will be “Plug-ins and More Night.”

“Plug-ins are part of every editors suite of tools, however there are so many choices and many of them seem to do the same thing. It’s difficult to keep up with what is out there or what might be the best choice,” says Michael Horton founder of lafcpug. “So every once in awhile we showcase what we feel are some of the best and newest plug-ins for Final Cut Pro and Motion that every Final Cut Studio user should at least consider.”

Scheduled to appear on the agenda will be Jim Tierney of Digital Anarchy who will show off the brand new “Beauty Box plug-in for After Effects and FCP. “Beauty Box.” is the next generation in skin retouching software. By using advanced techniques like Face Detection, this skin retouching plug-in will automatically identify skin tones, while preserving important facial features. It makes the process of retouching video easier than ever with this retouch plug-in.

Bruce Gee of GeeThree plug-ins will show off PhotoMotion, Fusion Factory and SlickFX for FCP.

Movie Color from Sheffield Softworks is a plug-in for use within Final Cut Pro or Motion that gives you the ability to apply stylized “looks” to your footage. Andy Neil will show it off

Rounding out the evening will be show and tells from local filmmakers and the always fun and wild “World Famous Raffle.”

Horton states that lafcpug meetings are for everyone interested or using Final Cut Studio or digital filmmaking in general. He goes on to say that everyone is welcome no matter their level of expertise.

“You can learn a lot at a lafcpug meeting,” says Horton. “But it’s the people you will meet that is most important. In this business you must get out of the house and network. It’s difficult enough to get work, but when no one knows who you are it’s impossible. Plus, if you have any problems, chances are someone will be there that has the solution. lafcpug meetings are a great place to get known as well as get your problems solved.”

The doors will open to the Gallery Theater in Hollywood at 6:00PM and the meeting will begin at 6:45PM. Admission is only $5.00. It’s first come, best seat. More information about this event as well as directions to the Gallery Theater can be found on the lafcpug web site.

FmPro Migrator 5.46 – Adds PHP and BASIC to revTalk Conversion Features

January 25th, 2010

Fremont, CA – .com Solutions Inc. today releases FmPro Migrator Platinum Edition 5.46 with PHP and BASIC to revTalk Conversion Features. The BASIC and PHP to revTalk conversion features included with FmPro Migrator Platinum Edition help automate the conversion of PHP and BASIC code into the Rev development platform. Rev and the revTalk language can be used to deploy applications to MacOS X, Windows and Linux desktops, as a Web browser plug-in revLet, the server and mobile devices (including the iPhone with revMobile).

FmPro Migrator traverses all subdirectories of a selected top-level source directory and converts all of the PHP or BASIC files which it finds. The converted revTalk code is either saved as an .irev file in the destination directory, or as a card script assigned to a card within a new Rev stack file. The high performance conversion process is able to process hundreds of files within a matter of seconds, saving many hours of boring and tedious manual labor.

The PHP to revTalk conversion features include:
* PHP Variable Conversion – The $ character is removed from PHP variables and the variable name is checked to determine if it conflicts with an existing Rev keyword or function name. Conflicting variable names are changed by adding an underscore character to the end of the name.

* php tags are converted to rev tags – The rev tags will be usable within .irev files but will be removed if the code is being saved into a Rev stack. Code outside of php tags is assumed to be HTML code and it is either passed thru without changes within .irev files or it is commented out within Rev stack code.

* Trailing Semicolon And Curly Bracket Removal – Each complete PHP instruction is terminated with a semicolon which is removed during the conversion. Code blocks including conditionals and Try/Catch statements are bracketed with curly braces, which either get removed or replaced with the appropriate revTalk instruction.

* Commonly Used Keyword Conversion – Keywords such as IF, ELSE, TRY/CATCH, REQUIRE, SPRINT, WHILE are converted into the equivalent revTalk instruction.

* Commonly Used Function Conversion – Some built-in PHP functions including trim(), strlen(), printf(), strtolower() and strtoupper() have direct equivalents in revTalk so these are converted accordingly.

* PHP Operator Conversion – PHP operators including = =, = = =, ++, – -, &&, and || have direct equivalent operators or replacement keywords which are used in revTalk.

* Custom Function Conversion – revTalk functions don’t use parenthesis surrounding the parameter list and don’t need to have opening and closing curly brackets so these are removed. The closing curly bracket is replaced with the end keyword followed by the name of the function.

* Multi-line HERE Document Code – PHP scripts often include blocks of text/HTML containing variables which are evaluated and placed into a variable. The HERE document spans multiple lines and is converted into a single line revTalk put statement.

* Code Indenting – Code indenting and comments are retained from the original code in order to improve the readability and maintainability of the converted code. However you can easily reformat the code by clicking the TAB key within the editor in the Rev IDE.

The BASIC to revTalk conversion features include:
* Support for Multiple Versions of BASIC – BASIC syntax from a variety of development environments is supported, including (but not limited to) : Visual Basic, VBScript, VBA, PowerBasic, ZBASIC/FutureBasic and RealBasic.

* BASIC Variable Conversion – BASIC variables on the left side of an assignment operator or within a DIM statement are converted to revTalk variables by removing trailing data type characters. Conflicting variable names are changed by adding an underscore character to the end of the name.

* <?rev Tags Added to .irev Files – If .irev files are selected as the output file type then tags are added to the file so that it will be executable by the On-Rev web server.

* Commonly Used Keyword Conversion – Keywords such as DIM, LET, FOR/NEXT/LOOP/WHILE, SELECT/CASE, FUNCTION/SUB are converted into the equivalent revTalk commands.

* Custom Subroutine and Function Definition Conversion – Subroutines and functions are converted into revTalk “on HandlerName/function FunctionName” definitions closed with “end HandlerName/FunctionName”.

* Commonly Used Function Conversion – Some built-in BASIC functions including Trim(), Len(), Exit, Inc/Dec, LCase(), UCase(), XOr are converted directly into the equivalent revTalk functions.

* SELECT CASE Statement Conversion – SELECT CASE code is converted into revTalk SWITCH code with a “break” keyword added to close each CASE block.

* Code Indenting – Code indenting and comments are retained from the original code in order to improve the readability and maintainability of the converted code.

Demo Mode and demo revLets – By default, FmPro Migrator Platinum Edition processes 5 scripts of unlimited length in demo mode without a license key. Also, each of the detailed info pages include a demo revLet which converts PHP or BASIC code to revTalk within a web browser.

Pricing and Availability:
FmPro Migrator Platinum Edition is priced at ($600) per developer and includes a copy of FmPro Migrator Platinum Edition for both MacOS X (Universal Binary) and Windows platforms. Existing FmPro Migrator Developer Edition customers may upgrade to FmPro Migrator Platinum Edition for $400.
